A 3-port zone valve in a boiler system acts as a “diverter valve,” controlling the flow of water between the central heating and hot water systems.
It has three ports: one for water from the boiler, and two outlets for either the central heating or the hot water tank.
The valve can be positioned to direct water to either the heating or hot water circuit, or even both simultaneously, allowing for independent control of heating and hot water.
