The expansion vessel is suitable for heating and cooling, usually for closed systems that are operating at a relatively low pressure.

This expansion vessel with bracket is suitable for inclusion in a heating system.
Expansion vessels are required within heating systems to allow for the expansion that occurs when the water is heated.

The volume of water increases when being heated from 0°C to 100°C and the expansion vessel allows for this extra rise in pressure.
When water temperature increases, the membrane inside the vessel expands to allow the water to fill the vessel, the membrane will continue to expand until the system reaches its maximum temperature.
